Third: Prove It

Third: Prove It

Prove It

Think about the last time you were engrossed by a presentation… the presenter probably told you three key points and then proved them to you. How did the presenter do that? He or she told you stories. Stories provide amazing proof because they allow the audience to literally ‘put themselves in the picture’. Their minds will conjure up pictures to allow them to follow your story. Because it’s their minds providing the pictures they are more likely to believe, to have trust, to agree with, to sense and feel… In other words they are engrossed in their own thoughts as you steer them via the story.

There are lots of stories. You probably have several hundred of your own because you create a number of stories every day. You have heard thousands of other stories from your family, work mates, clients, strangers. You probably read a newspaper everyday with dozens of stories. Read books that are nothing but stories, watched television with is totally story based. Learned History which is a massive collection of stories. You should have case studies, each of which is a story.

So rather than telling your audience the 12 facts (via PowerPoint) as to why your product is so good, tell them the story of the client who had a problem, explain the problem and then tell them how your product or service ‘saved the day’. If you do this then you will Prove your point.
